Academia Young NDT Researcher Recognition

Purpose
The Academia Young NDT Researcher Recognition program is intended to commend outstanding research individuals whose initial career contributions exemplify high standards of excellence in terms of professional achievement, outreaching collaboration and continuous efforts in advancing the science, technology and diagnostic in NDT.
Scope
This policy establishes the procedure for the administration of this recognition program.
Eligibility
The call for applications for this recognition is open to individuals with not less than five (5) and up to ten (10) years of NDT research experience, since highest academic degree earned, and a publication record that includes, as a minimum:
Ten (10) refereed journal papers,
Two (2) citations by other authors, and
Three (3) conference presentations.
Nominees for this recognition shall be sponsored by a minimum of one member of the Academia NDT International.
Nomination Process
Nominations shall be sent by the sponsoring Academia member to
info@academia-ndt.org and received by February 1st of the corresponding year.
The nomination package must include:
A one-page support letter signed by the sponsor
No more than a two-page statement from the applicant highlighting the scientific impact and innovation of their research
A sample of one high quality publication in pdf format.
An updated CV of the nominee
A chronologically sorted list of peer reviewed publications for the nominee
A chronologically sorted list of conference presentations for the nominee.
Any other supplementary relevant information to reinforce the recognition nomination.
Evaluation
The Academia Secretary shall distribute all the nomination packages received to the Academia Council Members at least one month prior to the spring Council meeting.
Academia council members shall review each nomination package at an individual level once they have been shared by the academia secretary.
Nominations shall be discussed during the Council’s spring meeting.
Evaluation shall be mainly focused on:

Electronic voting by council members shall follow no later than 2 weeks following the spring council meeting.
The nominee must receive at least eighty percent (80%) of the Council’s members votes to be selected for this recognition.
The recognition will be granted to all applicants that meet the standards of the Council
The recognition is not limited to one applicant per year.
If none of the applicants meet the standards of the Council, the recognition shall remain vacant.
Amenities
Recognition recipients shall receive a certificate attesting to their accomplishments as Young NDT Researchers.
The recipient shall be extended an invitation to present their work at the Academia monthly webinar series.
Pending the quality of the webinar, the recipient may be nominated as a Junior Member of the Academia.
A list with the names of the recognition recipients shall be published annually at the Academia NDT International website and a suitable post to diffuse this achievement will follow at Academia’s account in LinkedIn.
Supplementary subjects
Any supplementary subject related with this recognition program that may arise, and is not addressed in this document, shall be decided by the Academia Council.
